By UPA’s count, its crews retrofitted 309,534 gas modules for LG&E and KU between September 2022 and December 2025. The Kentucky Public Service Commission recorded 318,268 gas modules installed across all installers on the program.

Gas meters and communication modules

Gas AMI projects can combine meter exchanges, module retrofits and customer appointments. Scope each one with the utility and the equipment maker, including the information needed for activation and acceptance.

Customer contact and field coordination

Agree notices, access and escalation before the visit. Customer contact services can be planned alongside the field work.

See AMI installation for the full LG&E and KU program.

Programs we’ve worked on

The LG&E and KU gas figure is UPA’s own count; the Kentucky PSC’s figures cover the whole program. A module retrofit and a gas meter replacement are different jobs, and we count them separately.

Common questions

Straight answers for utility teams. Customers with a question about an appointment should start with their utility.

Is a gas module retrofit the same as a meter replacement?

No. A retrofit adds or swaps the communication module; a replacement exchanges the meter itself. Your scope and progress reports should list them separately.

What does the LG&E and KU gas figure measure?

UPA counts 309,534 gas module retrofits by its own crews. The Kentucky PSC recorded 318,268 gas modules across all installers. The two numbers measure different things.

Who sets access and safety requirements?

The utility’s program sets access rules, customer notices, equipment requirements and what work is authorized. Ask for the crew qualifications and procedures that apply to your scope.
