Utility contractor safety and compliance

A utility’s prequalification review needs dated records, clear definitions and requirements that match the work. Contact UPA to request that information.

Safety programs

UPA’s driver-safety article names Jeremy Byers as Director of Safety and describes the company’s focus on driver safety. UPA has also written about its part in South Carolina’s damage-prevention education.

What to ask for in a qualification review

Ask for three years of EMR, TRIR and DART, hours worked, how each figure is defined and the summaries behind them. Ask for current license status, insurance documents, training records and any qualifications your utility requires for the program.

Request current figures and prequalification-platform registrations directly from UPA. Credentials and rates should be checked for the right legal company, type of work, state and period.

Project labor agreements

UPA has worked under project labor agreements with IBEW Local 1245 on SMUD work and LIUNA Local 1309 on Long Beach AMI work. Those agreements cover those projects only and don’t describe the company’s labor status overall.
