What is AMI lifecycle management?
It’s the care of smart meters and their communication modules after the rollout: inspections, maintenance, performance investigations and the records that go with them. UPA brings field technicians, investigation work and work-order documentation together.
Who fixes smart meters that stop communicating?
First the utility works out whether the problem is the meter, the module, the network or the data system. UPA’s field crews can investigate and work on meters and endpoints; response times and the manufacturer’s responsibilities are agreed for each program.
Can UPA handle AMI 2.0 and end-of-life replacement?
Yes. SMUD’s records show UPA’s meter change-out contract, and Unitil names UPA for its meter replacement program. Every new program still needs its own staffing, sequencing and billing-continuity plan.
Does lifecycle work include leak investigations?
For water utilities, yes. UPA’s lifecycle service includes investigating suspected leaks, using AMI data, field checks and customer contact within the utility’s scope.
What does Ensight Plus do?
UPA uses Ensight Plus, a third-party platform, for work orders, GIS integration, asset history and performance reporting. The platform’s certifications belong to its maker, not to UPA.
Can a utility pick individual maintenance services?
Yes. You can choose single services or a broader program, scoped to how your utility operates.
Who does the field work, and what should we ask for?
UPA’s own field technicians do the inspections and maintenance. Ask for program-specific training records, current qualifications, response commitments and dated safety figures.
