UPA Meter Upgrade Milestone

By UPA’s count, its crews installed 988,539 electric meters and 309,534 gas modules for LG&E and KU from September 2022 through December 2025. The Kentucky Public Service Commission recorded 1,358,964 meters and modules across all installers when the program finished.

Field installation with Landis+Gyr

Utility Partners of America (UPA) did the field deployment in partnership with Landis+Gyr. Customer notices included in the Kentucky PSC annual report tell customers who would arrive: “A technician from Utility Partners of America (UPA) will upgrade your meter(s).”

What the completion filing shows

The PSC’s quarterly status report 19, filed April 30, 2026, records full deployment by December 31, 2025. The program total and the completion date come from that filing; the split between electric meters and gas modules is UPA’s own count.

The LG&E and KU program page keeps these numbers and their sources together. Utilities planning a deployment can read about AMI and smart meter installation and compare other utility programs.

Updated October 13, 2026 to show UPA’s count next to the final regulator total.
