Tucson Water AMI Project Officially Kicks Off

Tucson Water’s AMI deployment began on March 2, 2026. UPA’s announcement describes a first phase of about 45,000 meters, which is the plan for that phase rather than a count of meters installed.

Water AMI in Tucson

Utility Partners of America (UPA) is working on the rollout with Itron, as UPA’s kickoff announcement describes. The City of Tucson’s AMI information explains the program for customers.

The city’s April 1, 2026 bulletin says: “Deployment is handled by Utility Partners of America (UPA).”

Planned work and installed meters

The first-phase estimate describes the work planned at kickoff. It isn’t a count of meters UPA has installed, and we don’t show one here. Later milestones will carry a dated utility record or say clearly that the number is UPA’s own.

Customers can follow Tucson Water’s program information for rollout and appointment updates. Utilities can read the Tucson Water program page, explore water AMI installation and compare the track record.

Updated October 13, 2026 to separate the planned first phase from installed meters.
