The City of Tucson names UPA as the contractor deploying Tucson Water’s smart water meters. The first phase began in March 2026.

The city’s customer information and its April 2026 bulletin name UPA as the deployment contractor. UPA’s kickoff announcement names Itron and describes the first phase.

The city hasn’t published installed totals yet, so this page shows UPA’s role and the start date rather than counting planned meters as installed. See water meter installation.

Where things stand

UPA’s kickoff announcement describes a first phase of about 45,000 meters. That is the plan, not a count of meters installed.
