National Grid names UPA as an installation vendor for its Massachusetts smart-meter program. The program passed 500,000 meters in April 2026, counting National Grid’s own crews and every contractor.

Installing smart meters alongside National Grid crews

National Grid’s customer page names UPA as its installation vendor, and its Massachusetts filing describes UPA as supplementing the utility’s own team. Both contribute to the milestone National Grid announced on April 23, 2026, so that total isn’t UPA’s alone.

Appointments, technician checks and opt-outs

Customers should use National Grid’s smart meter page or the number on their utility bill to confirm a visit, check a technician’s identity or ask about access and opting out. National Grid sets the program’s rules.

UPA’s main number reaches our headquarters in Greer, South Carolina. It isn’t a scheduling line for National Grid appointments.

Where things stand

The program is scheduled to run through December 2027. National Grid’s internal crews also install meters, and the utility doesn’t publish UPA’s share.
